Party Dress!

My business celebration was last night as well as I made a new gown for it:

The bodice is great ol’ 1577 again, as well as the skirt is adapted from development 2751. The material is a bronzy-coppery coated poly denim, which I don’t believe I would have ever chosen up except that it was on super-super-sale at material outlet in the objective last week, as well as since I already gotten this other laminated denim I didn’t understand what to do with, so I believed I might kill two birds with one stone as well as have both a wearable celebration gown as well as a muslin. Woot!

The material is truly heavy however in spite of that is extremely simple to sew with, as well as although I utilized a press fabric I don’t believe I truly needed one — there was no transfer to my (hot) iron or the ironing board.

Next time I will most likely make the patch pocket a bit deeper, as well as potentially prolong it to the side seam (might have to see what that does to the zipper):

Speaking of zippers:

I just did my basic finish-the-neck with bias tape:

Here’s the sleeve binding — also, considering that the material is so heavy as well as plasticky, I didn’t feel the requirement to zig-zag the seam allowances as I normally do:

And here’s the back:

This is a quite odd dress, even by my standards, however I type of like it. I used it with black tights as well as black ankle boots as well as a black cardigan, as well as a heavy black necklace, as well as was truly comfortable all night, which I’m normally not in celebration clothes.

One of the things we were celebrating (besides having fun working together) was the introduce of our new discovery reading app in the app store … if you have an iPad running iOS 7 or later, would you think about downloading it as well as providing it a try? It’s free, it will assist you discover awesome new articles about topics as well as ideas fascinating to you (as well as articles shared by your buddies on Twitter as well as Facebook as well as top news) as well as if you requirement a suggestion other than mine, Bono stated it was his new preferred app. (!)

I’m already planning to wear this gown once again for new Year’s Eve …
